Job Summary
The Substitute Teacher supports the mission of the Catholic school by providing instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The substitute maintains a positive and respectful learning environment, adheres to lesson plans, and upholds the Catholic identity and values of the school.
Job Responsibilities

Follow lesson plans and classroom procedures provided by the regular teacher.

Create a positive, safe, and respectful learning environment rooted in Catholic values.

Supervise students during class, transitions, lunch, and recess as needed.

Manage classroom behavior and enforce school rules consistently and fairly.

Leave a summary of the day’s activities for the returning teacher.

Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, and administrators.

Integrate Catholic teachings and values where appropriate in classroom interactions.

Maintain confidentiality and act with discretion at all times.
Job Requirements

High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred.

Teaching certification (state or diocesan) preferred but not always required.

Practicing Catholic or respectful of the Catholic faith and willing to support its mission.

Classroom experience or experience working with children/adolescents is preferred.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Completion of diocesan requirements: background check, Safe Environment training, and any additional local compliance standards.
