Job Summary:
St. Margaret of Scotland School, a vibrant Catholic elementary school within the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support our mission of academic excellence and faith formation. The Teacher Assistant will collaborate with lead teachers and staff to create a nurturing, organized, and engaging classroom environment that supports the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social development of all students.
Job Responsibilities

Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and daily instructional activities.

Support individual or small groups of students in understanding and completing assignments.

Reinforce classroom rules and help maintain a respectful, orderly learning environment.

Help prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.

Supervise students in the classroom, during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities.

Provide additional support to students with special learning needs as directed.

Maintain open and professional communication with teachers, staff, and families.

Support the Catholic identity and mission of St. Margaret of Scotland through respectful behavior and participation in school-wide religious activities.

Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration.
Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.

Prior experience working with children in an educational setting is strongly preferred.

Ability to follow teacher direction and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

A commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic faith; practicing Catholic preferred but not required.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Compliance with all Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program requirements, including background checks and training.
