Job Summary

Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, a vibrant Catholic elementary school within the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support our mission of academic excellence and faith formation. The Teacher Assistant will collaborate with lead teachers and staff to create a nurturing, organized, and engaging classroom environment that supports the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social development of all students.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and daily instructional activities.

  • Support individual or small groups of students in understanding and completing assignments.

  • Reinforce classroom rules and help maintain a respectful, orderly learning environment.

  • Help prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.

  • Supervise students in the classroom, during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities.

  • Provide additional support to students with special learning needs as directed.

  • Maintain open and professional communication with teachers, staff, and families.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.

  • Prior experience working with children in an educational setting is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to follow teacher direction and work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • A commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic faith; practicing Catholic preferred but not required.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

  • Compliance with all Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program requirements, including background checks and training.
