Job Summary

The Aftercare Director oversees the daily operation of the school’s aftercare program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for students. The Director leads program planning, staff supervision, and parent communication while upholding the Catholic values and mission of the school. This role is essential in providing quality care and enrichment during after-school hours.

Job Responsibilities

Program Management:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive aftercare program that supports students’ academic, social, and spiritual growth.

  • Plan and coordinate age-appropriate activities including homework help, recreational play, and faith formation.

  • Ensure compliance with all school policies, diocesan regulations, and local licensing requirements.

  • Maintain accurate attendance records and manage program enrollment.

Staff Supervision and Training:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise aftercare staff and aides.

  • Schedule staff shifts and ensure adequate supervision ratios at all times.

  • Provide ongoing professional development focused on child development, safety, and Catholic identity.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding aftercare services, policies, and concerns.

  • Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and parents to support student needs.

  • Communicate effectively with families about program updates, billing, and special events.

Safety and Environment:

  • Ensure the aftercare environment is safe, clean, and welcoming.

  • Implement emergency procedures and safety protocols, including first aid and illness management.

  • Monitor student behavior and enforce school disciplinary policies aligned with Catholic values.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.

  • Experience managing child care or after-school programs.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Commitment to Catholic education and the school’s mission.

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Ability to work afternoon and occasional evening hours as needed.
