Job Summary
The Assistant School Cafeteria Manager supports the Cafeteria Manager in the daily operations of the school cafeteria. Responsibilities include supervising staff, assisting with food preparation and service, maintaining sanitation standards, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines related to school nutrition programs.
Job Responsibilities

Assist in planning and coordinating daily meal service for students and staff.

Ensure meals are prepared, served, and stored according to safety and nutritional standards.

Supervise cafeteria staff, provide training and guidance as needed.

Monitor kitchen and cafeteria cleanliness, enforcing food safety and sanitation regulations.

Assist with inventory control, ordering supplies, and receiving food deliveries.

Maintain accurate records for meal counts, inventory, and production.

Operate kitchen equipment and troubleshoot minor malfunctions.

Support compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements.

Substitute for Cafeteria Manager during absences.

Foster a positive and respectful environment for staff and students.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or school administration.
Job Requirements

Experience in food service, preferably in a school setting.

Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition guidelines.

Ability to lead and supervise a team effectively.

Basic math and computer skills for inventory and recordkeeping.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

ServSafe certification or ability to obtain one.
