Job Summary

The Director of Aftercare is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the school’s aftercare program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for students outside of regular school hours. This role includes staff supervision, program planning, communication with families, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Program Management:

    • Plan, implement, and evaluate daily aftercare activities that support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.

    • Maintain a structured and engaging environment for students ranging from [insert grade levels, e.g., Pre-K through 5th grade].

    • Monitor student attendance and behavior, maintaining accurate records.

  • Staff Supervision:

    • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise aftercare staff.

    • Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing support and professional development.

    • Ensure appropriate staff-to-student ratios are maintained.

  • Health & Safety:

    • Ensure the program complies with all state and local health, safety, and childcare regulations.

    • Administer basic first aid when necessary and manage emergency procedures.

    • Maintain cleanliness and order in the aftercare space.

  • Family Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding aftercare.

    • Communicate regularly with families about student progress, behavioral concerns, and upcoming events.

    • Address parent concerns in a timely and professional manner.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Manage program budget and supplies.

    • Track enrollment and coordinate billing with the school’s business office (if applicable).

    • Prepare reports for school leadership as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.

  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a calm, positive demeanor.
