Faith Formation Assistant

Job Summary

The Faith Formation Assistant supports the Director of Religious Education (DRE) in the planning, coordination, and implementation of catechetical programs for children, youth, and adults. This position plays a key role in fostering a welcoming and faith-filled environment for all participants in accordance with the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and implementing parish faith formation programs, including:

  • Children's Religious Education (K–8)

  • Sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation)

  • Youth ministry activities

  • Adult faith formation sessions or RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

• Help prepare materials, supplies, and facilities for weekly classes and events

• Support catechists and volunteers with classroom needs and resources

• Maintain accurate registration, attendance, and sacramental records

• Assist with communication to families via email, bulletin, website, or social media

• Provide hospitality and support during sacramental celebrations, retreats, and special events

• Ensure compliance with diocesan Safe Environment policies and procedures

• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and diocesan workshops as needed

Job Requirements

• Practicing Catholic in good standing with a sound understanding of Catholic teaching and tradition

• Experience in parish ministry, education, or child/youth development preferred

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Comfortable using technology for administrative and communication tasks

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
