Job Summary

The Teacher Aide supports classroom teachers in providing a positive, engaging, and effective learning environment for students. This role assists with instructional activities, classroom organization, and student supervision, helping ensure that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, and passionate about helping children learn and grow.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and activities.

  • Provide individual or small-group support to students who need extra help.

  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, cafeterias, and during field trips.

  • Help prepare instructional materials, bulletin boards, and classroom displays.

  • Support classroom management by reinforcing positive behavior and maintaining a safe, orderly environment.

  • Assist with grading assignments, recording student progress, and maintaining accurate documentation.

  • Set up and organize classroom equipment, technology, and supplies as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and staff to promote collaboration and a positive learning atmosphere.

  • Provide basic care and assistance for students’ physical or emotional needs when necessary.

  • Uphold school policies and ensure compliance with district and state education guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or completion of a teacher aide/paraprofessional program preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.

  • For public schools, must meet state or district paraprofessional certification requirements.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward working with children.

  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.

  • Organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with educational technology tools.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
