Job Summary

The After-Care/Extended Day Aide provides supervision, support, and enrichment for students enrolled in the school or program’s extended day services. This role ensures a safe, positive, and engaging environment during after-school hours through structured activities, homework support, and consistent behavioral expectations.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Student Supervision & Safety

  • Maintain active supervision of students at all times.

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly environment for indoor and outdoor activities.

  • Follow all safety, emergency, and sign-in/sign-out procedures.

  • Address minor conflicts using constructive, positive guidance.

Program Support

  • Assist in planning and leading age-appropriate activities (arts, games, crafts, outdoor play, etc.).

  • Support students with homework or quiet study time as needed.

  • Prepare and distribute snacks following program guidelines.

  • Help set up and clean up program spaces before and after activities.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and staff.

  • Report behavioral or safety concerns to the program coordinator promptly.

  • Work cooperatively with team members to maintain a supportive and consistent environment.

Administrative Duties

  • Assist with attendance tracking, parent pick-up verification, and program documentation.

  • Follow all program policies, confidentiality guidelines, and mandated reporting requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting preferred.

  • Ability to manage groups of children and maintain a positive environment.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
