Job Summary
Sacred Heart – Valley Park parish is in need of several catechists to teach children during the 2024-2025 Public School of Religion school year.
Our catechists enrich the spiritual development of our students by leading them to unique encounters with Christ. They do this in a variety of ways: by what they say and do in the classroom, as well as by their words and actions as they participate in parish life and in the larger community. Catechists work with the parents of our students to help the children in their care see how God works in the Church, in the world, and in their lives.
Job Responsibilities
• Commit to teaching for the full PSR school year (September through May)
• Prepare for each class through the creation or review of appropriate lesson plans
• Comply with the Archdiocesan learning standards published for the grade-level you are assigned to teach
• Be in the classroom and ready to teach at least 15 minutes before the start of class
• Attend at least one in service meeting offered by the parish. These meetings will take place on either Monday or Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on weeks when no PSR classes are scheduled.
