Job Summary
The Preschool Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for young children and staff in the preschool area of a Catholic school. This role plays a key part in supporting the school’s mission by ensuring the facilities reflect the care, order, and respect inherent in Catholic education.
Job Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas in the preschool wing.

Disinfect high-touch surfaces daily (e.g., tables, toys, door handles, bathroom fixtures).

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces as needed.

Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners.

Ensure restrooms are stocked with soap, paper towels, and other supplies.

Monitor and report any safety, maintenance, or repair needs to the Facilities Manager or school administration.

Follow all health and safety guidelines, including those related to COVID-19 or communicable illness protocols.

Maintain cleaning equipment and safely store cleaning products out of children's reach.

Assist with setup and breakdown of preschool areas for events or special activities as needed.

Respond promptly to spills or accidents in classrooms or restrooms.

Support the Catholic identity of the school by modeling respect, care, and responsibility in all actions.
Job Requirements

Prior custodial or cleaning experience in a school, childcare, or similar environment preferred.

Understanding of proper sanitation and safety procedures, especially in early childhood settings.

Ability to work independently and follow established cleaning routines and protocols.

Physically able to lift 30–50 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, and standing for long periods.

Practicing Catholic preferred; non-Catholics must respect the mission and values of the Catholic Church
