Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher supports the mission and values of the Catholic school by providing instruction, classroom management, and support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role requires a commitment to upholding Catholic teachings and fostering a faith-filled, respectful learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher in a professional and engaging manner

  • Maintain classroom routines, procedures, and discipline in accordance with school policies

  • Provide a nurturing, Christ-centered environment that respects the dignity of each student

  • Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and other assigned areas

  • Leave detailed notes or feedback for the regular teacher on the day’s activities and student performance

  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators

  • Integrate Catholic values into daily interactions and promote a positive, respectful classroom climate

  • Follow emergency procedures and school safety protocols as needed

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

  • Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred

  • Understanding of and respect for Catholic teachings and values

  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills

  • Ability to adapt to different grade levels and subject areas

  • Virtus or Safe Environment Training (or willingness to complete prior to working)

  • Background check and fingerprint clearance as required by diocesan policy
