Job Summary

The Extended Care Aide supports the Catholic mission of the school by providing supervision and care for students enrolled in the before- and after-school extended care program. The aide ensures a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where children can play, do homework, and build positive relationships. All activities and interactions should reflect Christian values and promote the well-being of each child.

Job Responsibilities

Student Supervision & Safety:

  • Supervise students during before- or after-school care, both indoors and outdoors

  • Ensure a safe, secure environment by actively monitoring student behavior and activities

  • Follow emergency procedures and school policies for student health and safety

  • Escort students to and from school buildings as needed (e.g., to restrooms, dismissal line)

Program Support:

  • Set up and clean up snacks, games, and materials used in extended care

  • Engage students in appropriate play, crafts, reading, or quiet activities

  • Assist with homework when applicable

  • Help maintain accurate attendance records and communicate with parents as needed

Faith & Values Integration:

  • Model Christian values such as kindness, patience, and respect

  • Support a Christ-centered atmosphere consistent with the Catholic identity of the school

Team Collaboration:

  • Work cooperatively with other extended care staff, teachers, and school administrators

  • Attend required training sessions or staff meetings

  • Report concerns about student behavior or safety promptly to supervisor

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required)

  • Experience working with children in a school, camp, or daycare setting (preferred)

  • Must pass background check and complete required child safety training (e.g., VIRTUS)

  • Basic understanding of child development and behavior management
