The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

A Color Guard member performs choreographed routines using equipment such as flags, to visually interpret musical performances. They contribute to the overall artistic and competitive success of the marching band or winter guard through coordination, precision, and expressive performance. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform choreographed routines using flags, rifles, sabres, and dance/movement techniques.

  • Attend and actively participate in all rehearsals, sectionals, performances, and competitions.

  • Maintain equipment, uniforms, and props in performance-ready condition.

  • Execute routines with precision, timing, and consistency in alignment with musical cues.

  • Memorize choreography and adapt to changes during the season.

  • Work collaboratively with teammates, instructors, and band staff to achieve ensemble goals.

  • Demonstrate discipline, professionalism, and a positive attitude during rehearsals and performances.

  • Assist with field setup, prop movement, and equipment transport as needed.

  • Uphold safety standards when handling equipment and performing routines.

  • Represent the organization with school-appropriate conduct at all events.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to learn and perform dance and equipment choreography.

  • Good physical stamina, coordination, and flexibility.

  • Strong sense of rhythm, spatial awareness, and body control.

  • Willingness to attend all scheduled practices, games, and competitions.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and take constructive instruction.

  • Prior color guard, dance, or performing arts experience preferred (but not always required).
