Job Summary

St. Gertrude is looking for a Catholic school Athletic Director. The AD plays a pivotal role in shaping the athletic culture, ensuring that sports programs align with the institution's mission, and fostering student development through sports. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee athletic programs including scheduling, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

  • Develop and enforce policies promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and Catholic values.

  • Manage logistics for games, practices, and postseason activities.

  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff; support professional development.

  • Collaborate with administration, faculty, and parents to enhance athletic culture.

  • Administer departmental budget; coordinate fundraising and ensure equipment/facility safety.

  • Monitor student-athlete eligibility and academic progress; uphold health and safety protocols.

  • Promote student growth through faith-based character development.

  • Act as liaison between athletics and school community; represent school at league events.

  • Communicate achievements and events across school channels.

Job Requirements

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree in educational administration is often preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience in athletic administration, coaching, or teaching is highly valued.

  • Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification is often required; additional certifications in athletic training or safety protocols are advantageous.

  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential. Proficiency in budgeting and familiarity with athletic administration software are beneficial.

  • Faith Alignment: A commitment to upholding and integrating Catholic values within the athletic program is crucial.
