Job Summary

The Freshman Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for developing and leading the freshman-level girls basketball team. This position emphasizes teaching fundamental basketball skills, fostering teamwork, promoting sportsmanship, and preparing athletes for progression to higher levels of competition within the program.

Job Responsibilities

Coaching & Player Development

  • Teach and develop fundamental basketball skills, strategies, and team concepts appropriate for freshman-level athletes.

  • Plan, organize, and conduct regular practices and team meetings.

  • Provide instruction that emphasizes player development, effort, and character building.

  • Ensure that players understand and execute offensive and defensive systems consistent with the overall basketball program.

Program Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Head Varsity Coach to ensure program alignment and continuity across all levels.

  • Participate in program meetings, clinics, and professional development opportunities.

  • Maintain open communication with players, parents, and other coaching staff.

Team Management

  • Supervise athletes at all team functions (practices, games, travel).

  • Enforce team rules, academic expectations, and athletic code of conduct.

  • Manage equipment and uniforms responsibly and report inventory needs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of all players.

  • Ensure adherence to school, district, and league policies.

  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid and required coaching certifications.

Job Requirements

  • Previous basketball playing or coaching experience required; high school-level coaching experience preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to motivate and mentor young student-athletes.

  • Commitment to academic success, sportsmanship, and positive team culture.
