Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher at St. Gertrude provides instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The ideal candidate will maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons and maintain classroom order in accordance with the teacher’s written plans.

  • Uphold and support the Catholic identity, mission, and values of the school.

  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunch areas, and during recess or other activities as assigned.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student and school matters.

  • Leave notes or feedback for the regular teacher regarding student performance and classroom activities.

  • Attend to minor disciplinary issues and refer serious infractions to administration.

  • Lead or participate in prayer or liturgical activities when appropriate.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Education or related field preferred).

  • Teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.

  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and follow lesson plans.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
