Job Summary
St. Alban Roe, is seeking committed and faith-filled PSR Catechists to serve as religious educators in our Parish School of Religion. Catechists share in the Church’s mission of evangelization by helping form children and youth in the Catholic faith. This ministry involves teaching religious education classes, preparing students for sacraments, and witnessing to the love of Christ in word and example.
Job Responsibilities

Prepare and lead weekly PSR classes for assigned grade level(s) using approved catechetical materials

Teach core elements of the Catholic faith including Scripture, doctrine, liturgy, prayer, and moral teachings

Incorporate prayer, activities, and discussion to engage students in their faith journey

Support students in preparation for sacraments such as First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation

Communicate regularly and respectfully with parents/guardians

Collaborate with the Director of Religious Education and other catechists to ensure consistent program delivery

Attend catechist training sessions, formation opportunities, and required parish meetings

Uphold and model Catholic values and teachings in both classroom and parish life

Maintain a safe and welcoming environment in compliance with diocesan child protection policies
Job Requirements

Practicing Catholic in good standing, with a love for the faith and desire to share it with others

Basic understanding of Catholic teaching and willingness to continue formation

Ability to manage and guide children or youth in a classroom setting

Completion of diocesan Safe Environment Training and background check (or willingness to complete upon acceptance)

Catechist certification (or willingness to pursue as required by the parish/diocese)

Prior teaching or ministry experience preferred but not required
